In this documentation, first, we’ll make sure that everything is ready for the installation, then we’ll set up the theme, and cover some initial configuration and customization options.

Getting Started

Make sure Construction Landing Page Pro is compatible to your WordPress version.

Construction Landing Page Pro will work with 4.5 and above versions of WordPress.

However, for best experience, added features, and updated security patches, we recommend you to update your WordPress to the latest version.

If you haven’t downloaded WordPress already, you can download it from the WordPress repository via https://wordpress.org/download/.

Requirements for Getting Started:

  • Check WordPress Version and Update it
  • Install and Activate Construction Landing Page Pro theme
  • Setup the Home Page

Checking and Updating WordPress Version:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard >Updates.

After you have the latest version of WordPress, save the downloaded Construction Landing Page Pro theme somewhere handy on your computer, as you will be using the included files for the rest of the installation process.

Construction Landing Page Pro includes:

A WordPress Theme Files— This ( construction-landing-page-pro.zip) is a compressed WordPress theme file containing all of the required templates, images and icons required for the theme to function properly.

Theme Installation & Activation

You can install the ‘Construction Landing Page Pro’ theme in two ways: via FTP/cPanel or via WordPress Dashboard. Choose the method that suits you the best.

We recommend Installation via WordPress because it is easier.

Installation via WordPress (Recommended)

To install the theme via WordPress Dashboard follow these steps:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Themes.

  • Click on “Browse…”, select the “construction-landing-page-pro.zip” file from your computer and click Open. browse theme.png
  • Click Install Now.

Installation Via FTP/cPanel

To Install the theme via FTP/cPanel follow these steps:

  • Unzip “construction-landing-page-pro.zip” file on your computer.
  • Login using FTP client to access your host web server.
  • Locate the “wp-content/themes/” folder in your WordPress install files.
  • Upload the unzipped Construction Landing Page Pro folder into the “wp-content/themes/” folder.

Activate the theme

  • Log in to the WordPress Administration Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress menu
  • Hover over the theme thumbnail and click the Activate button.

Plugins Installation

Installing Plugin:

To install a plugin in your WordPress admin panel, follow the following steps. Install Pluglin

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
  • Search for the name of the plugin you wish to install which will return a list of potential plugins
  • Click Details to read more about a plugin.
  • Click “Install Now” if you wish to install the plugin.

Plugin-Install-Web

  • After the plugin is downloaded. Go to Plugins>Installed Plugins. Click “Activate Plugin” to make it available for use. Plugin-Activate

Recommended Plugins:

We recommend you to download the following plugins when necessary:

  • Jetpack by WordPress.com (Automattic)

The plugin provides a variety of complementary features for your Theme.

If you have existing content, this will help you update your image thumbnails sizes.

The plugin helps create subscriber list, to send newsletters and build your business.

Setting up the home page

To get started with customizing the theme, you first need to setup a home page.

Create a home page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Pages > Add New.

Add Page

  • Enter the Page Title for the Page. You do not require to enter anything in the content section for creating a home page.
  • Select the Homepage Template from the Page Attributes section.
  • Click Publish.

Configure the home page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance>Customize > Static Front Page.
  • Select A static page under Front Page displays
  • Choose the page you just created as Front page.
  • Click Save & Publish.

Site Identity

You can change the name and logo of your website here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity
  • Click Select Logo and upload your logo.
  • Enter Site Title and Tagline.
  • Check Display Site Title and Tagline .
  • Click Select Image and upload Image for Site Icon.
  • Click Save and Publish.

General Settings

You can change general layout setting like Layout, Light Box, Sticky Menus and Pagination Type here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings
  • Choose a Layout
  • Enable or Disable Lightbox ( Blue is enabled).
  • Enable or Disable Sticky Menu
  • Choose Pagination Type .
  • Click Save and Publish.

Header Settings

You can change Header Layouts and Header Contents here.

Header Layouts

You can choose from 7 different header layouts.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Header Layouts
  • Choose the header layout you like the most.
  • Click Save and Publish.

Header Contents

Here , you can define what contents to display on your header, like Search Bar, Phone Number, Email and so on. This option is not available for first Header Layout. And, you many not get all the options for all the Header Layouts.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Header Contents
  • Enable or Disable Search Bar on your header
  • Enter Phone Label and Phone Number
  • Enter Email Label and Email Address
  • Enter Office Hours Labels and Office Hours
  • Enter Header Button Text and the URL
  • You can add extra header row if you want
  • Click Save & Publish

Slide/Banner Settings

You can choose different options for displaying slider and banner in this section.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Slider/Banner Settings > Choose Slider or Banner
  • Choose Slider or Static Banner with Contact Form

Slider Options

In this section, you can customize your slider.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Slider/Banner Settings >  Slider Options
  • Enable Slider to Auto Transition using toggle for the slides to transition automatically (auto-scroll) without a click. (Blue is enabled)
  • Enable Slider Control to allow manual navigation for paging control of each slide
  • Enable Slider Caption to show the post title to appear on the slider post image
  • Enable Use Full Size Image if you wish to display the full image on the slider rather than the cropped image. (In this case, make sure that all the selected images have the same image size, so that the design is maintained)
  • Choose Slider Transition type to “fade” or “slide”.
  • Choose Slider Speed and Slider Pause for Slide Content using slide.
  • Click Save & Publish

Slider Contents

You can select what to display in the slider here.

Slider using Page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Slider/Banner Settings> Slider Contents
  • Choose Slider Type to Page
  • Choose Pages to be displayed as slider under Choose Page One, Choose Page Two, Choose Page Three, Choose Page Four, and Choose Page Five.
  • Click Save and Publish.

Slider using Category

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Slider/Banner Settings > Slider Contents
  • Choose Slider Type to Category
  • Choose the Slider Category.
    • The featured Image of the posts under selected category will appear as Slide Images.
    • Post Title of the post under the selected category will appear as Slide Title.
    • Post Excerpt will appear on the Slider as slide Content. The first few sentences of the post content will appear as slide content if the Post excerpt is not entered.
  • Click Save and Publish.

Slider using Custom

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Slider/Banner Settings > Slider Contents
  • Choose Slider Type to Custom.
  • Click on Add new slides.

  • Click on Slide No. (1,2,3…) you want to create
  • Click Add Image to upload an Image.
  • Enter Title and Link for the Slide.
  • Click Add new Slide to add new Slide
  • Click Save and Publish

Static Banner With Contact Form

You can keep a fixed contact form banner on your website using this setting.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Slider/Banner Settings > Static Banner With Contact Form
  • Upload an background image for the Banner.
  • Enter the Title and Description of the Banner
  • Enter Shortcode for Contact Form
  • Click Save & Publish

Homepage Drag and Drop

You can change the position and visibility of different homepage sections here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Home Page Settings> Homepage Drag and Drop
  • Click on the eye icon at the beginning of a section name to enable or disable the section.
  • Drag the sections up and down to arrange them.

About Section

Create About Page

  • Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Dashboard > Pages > Add New.
  • Enter the Title for the about page.
  • Enter the contents for the about us page in content area.
  • Choose “About Page” Template
  • Click on Publish/Update.

Configure About Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize>Home Page Settings> About Section.
  • Give About Section Menu Title and description.
  • Choose the Page with About page Template.
  • Click Save and Publish.

Promotional Block Section

You can create promotional posts here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize>Home Page Settings> Promotional Block Section.
  • Upload Background Image for Promotional Block
  • Enter Title and Description for Promotional Block
  • Enter the Button Label (name)
  • Enter the URL for the Button
  • Click Save & Publish

Portfolio Section

Here, you can add your Portfolios on your home page. To create a Portfolio section, you have to create a Portfolio page and add a new portfolio first.

Create a Portfolio Page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard > Pages > Add New.
  • Enter the Title for the Portfolio page.
  • Enter the description for the portfolio page in content area.
  • Choose “Template Portfolio” Template
  • Click on Publish/Update.

Add a Portfolio

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard > Portfolios > Add New Portfolio.
  • Enter the title for the portfolio.
  • Enter the contents for the portfolio.
  • Select the Portfolio category/ies under the Portfolio Categories option.
  • Set the featured image for the portfolio.
  • Enter Portfolio Details.
  • Click on Publish/Update button.

Recommended Featured Image size for Portfolios: 360 x 276 pixels

Configure the Portfolio Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance >Customize>HomePage Settings>Portfolio Section
  • Enter Portfolio Section Title and Description
  • Select Portfolio Category
  • Click Save & Publish

Services Section

First, create a service page and add a new service to create a service section on the homepage.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard > Pages > Add New.
  • Enter the Title for the Service page.
  • Enter the description for the service page in content area.
  • Choose “Services Page” template
  • Click on Publish/Update.

  • Enter the title for the Service.
  • Enter the contents for the Service.
  • Set the featured image for the Service.

Configure the Services Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance >Customize>HomePage Settings>Services Section
  • Upload a background image for Services Section
  • Enter Title and Description for Services section
  • Enter Name for Button Label
  • Enter Button URL
  • Select the services you want to display on your home page
  • Click Save & Publish

Clients Section

You can display your clients logo on your homepage using this section.

Configure Clients Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance >Customize>Home Page Settings>Clients Section
  • Enter Section Title
  • Click Add new Client Logo to add a client.
  • Upload a client’s logo and client’s URL
  • Click Save & Publish

Testimonials Section

You can add testimonials on your home page here. But, you have to create a testimonial page and add testimonials first.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard > Pages > Add New.
  • Enter the Title for the testimonial page.
  • Enter the description for the testimonial page in content area.
  • Choose “Testimonial Page” Template
  • Click on Publish/Update.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard > Testimonials > Add New Testimonial .
  • Enter the title for the Testimonial
  • Enter the contents for the Testimonial .
  • Set the featured image for the testimonial.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.

  • Enter the number of Testimonials you want to display on the home page

You can add the prices of your services here.

Configure Pricing Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance >Customize>HomePage Settings>Pricing Section
  • Enter Pricing Section Title and Description
  • Click Add new Plan to add a plan
  • Enter the Title, Subtitle, Price, Items Name, Label Name for the plan and its URL
  • Click Save & Publish

Team Section

You can display your team members on your homepage using this section. But, you have to create team page and add teams first.

Create a Team Page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Dashboard > Pages > Add New.
  • Enter the Title for the Team page.
  • Enter the description for the Team page in content area.
  • Choose “Team Page ” Template
  • Click on Publish/Update.

You can change the display style of your post pages here.

Configure Post Settings

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Post Page Settings
  • Choose to Show or hide featured Image.
  • Choose to Show or hide Related Posts
  • Choose to Show or Hide Author Bio.
  • Choose to Show or hide Comments.
  • Enable to Highlight Author Comment.
  • Choose Widgets you want to place before and after a post

Post Meta Settings

You can decide which meta tags to show on your posts here.

Configure Post Meta

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Post Meta Settings
  • Choose the meta tags you want to display on your posts and pages
  • Choose Number of Character for Post Excerpt.
  • Enter the label for Read More Text.
  • Click Save & Publish.

Typography Settings

You can change the fonts of your contents, post title, page title, and content Heading tags here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Typography Settings
  • Select the content type to change its typography
  • Configure Font family, Variant, Font Subset, Size, Color (Using Color pallet).
  • Click Save & Publish

Styling Options

Here, you can change the layout style, color and background of your website.

Configure Styling

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Styling Options
  • Select Layout Style of posts.
  • Select Color Scheme using color pallet.
  • Configure Background Color, Body background or upload Background image as desired.
  • Click Save & Publish.

Breadcrumb Settings

Configure breadcrumbs on your website here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go To Appearance> Customize> Breadcrumb Settings.
  • Choose to enable or disable Breadcrumb
  • Choose to show or hide Current.
  • Enter Breadcrumb Home Text.
  • Enter Breadcrumb Separator.
  • Click Save & Publish

Sidebar Settings

You can add and configure sidebars here. But, to add tools to the sidebar you should go to Widgets.

Add a Sidebar

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Sidebar Settings
  • Click Add New sidebar
  • Give the sidebar a name and a unique id.
  • Click Save & Publish

You can see the new sidebar in Appearance> Widgets. Add a widget to the sidebar and click save to configure the newly created sidebar.

Configure Sidebar

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Sidebar Settings
  • Select Sidebars for various Pages, like Home Page, Single Page, Single Post Page, etc. The sidebar selected under the particular pages will be displayed on the page. For example: Home Page Sidebar appears only on home page.
  • Click Save & Publish

Social Settings

You can add social links on your header here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Social Settings
  • Enable Social Links in Header to show social icons header
  • Add Social Links by clicking Add new Link.
  • Enter the respective social links.
  • Click Save & Publish.

Menu Settings

By default, you will see all your pages in the menu. If you want to create a Custom Menu, you can do it from Customizer or from Dashboard. This theme supports two menus: Primary and Secondary.

Create Menu from Customizer

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize>Menus in the WordPress Dashboard
  • Click on Add a menu button

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button

  • Click “Add Items” to add items (pages, posts, categories, custom links…) to the Menu.
  • Click “+” icon on the items list to add the item to the menu
  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Check the Menu location to Primary or Secondary
  • Click Save & Publish

Create Menu from Dashboard

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress Dashboard
  • Click on create a new menu.

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button.

  • Select the items from Pages, Posts, Custom Links, or Categories and click “Add to Menu”.

  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Check the Menu location to Primary or Secondary
  • Click Save Menu

Widgets

Construction Landing Page Pro offers additional 13 custom widgets besides the default WordPress widgets.

You can add the widgets to the sidebar in two ways, either via Dashboard or Customizer.

Adding Widgets via Dashboard

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Widgets
  • Available widgets are listed on the left hand side while Sidebars are listed on the Right Side (including the sidebars you create)
  • Drag and drop the widgets to the desired sidebar.

Adding Widgets via Customizer

  • Go to Appearance> Customize>Widget
  • Click on the desired Sidebar (the one you want to add widgets to)

  • Select the desired Widget and give title to the widget.
  • Drag and reorder the widget as desired
  • Click Save & Publish

Static Front Page

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance>Customize > Static Front Page.
  • Select A static page under Front Page displays if you want the theme to look like demo
  • Choose a page for front page.
  • Click Save & Publish.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Footer settings
  • Enter Footer Copyright text
  • Hide or Show Author Link and WordPress Link. (Blue is Hide)
  • Click Save and Publish.

Helpful Tips

  • We highly recommend to use Child Theme if you need to change the code of the theme. Do not change the codes in the files of the parent theme as all such changes will be lost when the theme is updated. For information about How to create a child theme visit https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
  • Always keep BackUp of your theme before making any changes to the theme.
  • If you get any problem in using the theme, you can do the following things:
    • Deactivate the plugins, sometime plugin conflict may cause issues with the theme. Please deactivate the unused plugins.
    • Replace latest modified code with the original code.
