Introduction

Thank you for choosing the JobScout Pro Theme!

This documentation covers the installation and the usage of the theme.

The main goal of the documentation is to provide guidance and walk-through to set up the theme on your website in an easy-to-follow manner, while also introducing you to some of the features of the theme. We encourage you to go through this document and keep it handy for reference.

If you have any questions about the theme or need assistance with anything related to the theme, please feel free to open a support ticket. Our support team will be happy to assist you.

In this documentation, first, we’ll make sure that everything is ready for the installation, then we’ll set up the theme, and cover some initial configuration and customization options.

How to use this Documentation?

We recommend everyone to go through each step of the documentation to have a better understanding of the theme and its features.

However, if you are looking for a specific section, you can easily navigate using our table of contents on the left-hand side of the screen.

If you want to find a specific keyword, hit “Ctrl+F” on your browser to start searching.

Requirements for Getting Started

Make sure the JobScout Pro theme is compatible with your WordPress version.

JobScout Pro theme will work with 4.5 and above versions of WordPress.

However, for the best experience, added features, and updated security patches, we recommend you to update your WordPress to the latest version.

If you haven’t downloaded WordPress already, you can download it from the WordPress repository via https://wordpress.org/download/.

Checklist for Getting Started

  • Check WordPress Version and Update it
  • Install JobScout Pro theme
  • Install Recommended Plugins. Some functionality of the theme might not work if you do not install the recommended plugins.

Recommended Image Size (in px)

  • JobScout-blog 600 X 450
  • JobScout-single 838 X 471
  • JobScout-single-fullwidth: 1170 X 471

Demo Import (Instantly Make Website Like Demo)

You can easily make your website exactly like the live preview (demo) of JobScout Pro theme by importing the demo content. Importing demo content is a great way of getting started with your website. You can get a guideline on how to set up this theme if you import the demo content.

To import the demo with a click, you need to install Rara One Click Demo Import plugin and follow this step by step guide.

How to Check and Update WordPress Version

  • Log in to the WordPress admin panel
  • Go to Dashboard >Updates

Update the WordPress core if there is an update available.

Theme Installation & Activation

After you have the latest version of WordPress, save the downloaded JobScout Pro theme somewhere handy on your computer, as you will be using the included files for the rest of the installation process.

JobScout Pro theme file includes:

A WordPress Theme Files (in .zip format)— This (job-board-pro.zip) is a compressed WordPress theme file containing all of the required templates, images, and icons required for the theme to function properly.

Note for Safari users (macOS): If you are using Safari to download the theme file, the file may unzip automatically. So, make sure your theme file is in .zip format. Here’s how to stop Safari from automatically unzipping your .zip file.

To install and activate the theme follow these steps or the above gif:

  • Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Themes

  • Click on Add New button

  • Click on Upload Theme

  • Click on “Choose File…”, select the “job-board-pro.zip” file from your computer and click Open.

  • Click on Install Now

  • After the theme is installed, click on “Activate

Installing Recommended Plugins

You must install and activate the following plugins to get the best out of the JobScout Pro theme.

RaraTheme Companion by Rara Theme:

RaraTheme Companion is truly a must-have companion for your website. It provides 15+ useful and frequently used widgets that you can add to the sidebars to create an engaging website. This plugin is necessary for adding home page sections on this theme.

 

WP Job Manager

WP Job Manager is a job listing plugin which helps you add job board functionality to your WordPress website.

WPJM Extra Fields

WPJM Extra field plugin helps you add additional information such as extra salary and other important information on the job listing page.

 

Contact Listing for WP Job Manager

Contact Listing for WP Job Manager is an add-on for WP Job Manager that allows your visitors to contact you directly through your email application.

BlossomThemes Email Newsletter by Blossom Themes:

This plugin is needed to add newsletter subscription form on the newsletter section. The plugin also creates a newsletter widget that can be used in the sidebars.

Contact Form 7 by Takayuki Miyoshi:

Contact Form 7 helps you add and manage multiple contact forms.

Regenerate Thumbnails by Alex Mills (Viper007Bond):

If you have existing content, this will help you update your images thumbnail sizes. To update the thumbnails, you must run this plugin.

How to Install Recommended Plugin:

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Install Plugins.

  • Click “Install” to install the plugins

  • Click “Activate” to activate the plugins

Setting up the Front/Landing/Home Page and Blog Page

To get started with customizing the theme, you first need to set up a front page. If you want to make your website look like the demo, you should select the Front page as Static Page.

Please follow the below steps to set up the homepage and blog page for your job listing website using JobScout Pro WordPress theme.

Creating Home Page

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Pages > Add New

  • Enter the Page Title for the Page. You do not need to enter anything in the content section for creating a home page
  • Let the Page Attributes section be Default Template
  • Click on Publish

Creating Blog Page

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Pages > Add New

  • Enter the Page Title for the Page. Give the name as Blog as you are creating a blog page
  • Let the Page Attributes section be Default Template
  • Click on Publish

Configuring Home Page and Blog Page

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance>Customize > Homepage Settings> Static Front Page
  • Select A static page under Your homepage displays
  • Select the page “Home” from drop-down as homepage
  • Select Blog page from the drop down to set the Posts page
  • Click Publish

Site Identity (Add Logo/Name and Tagline on your website)

You can change the name and logo of your website here.

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity
  • Click Select Logo and upload your logo.
  • Enter Site Title and Tagline.
  • Checkbox Display Site Title and Tagline
  • Click Select Image and upload Image for Site Icon (favicon)
  • Select Site Title Font and Style
  • Select the Site Title Font Size & Site Title Color
  • Click on Publish

Appearance

Colors

You can change the background color of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to change the background color of the website.

  • Login to your WordPress admin panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Appearance Settings> Colors
  • Select the Primary Color, Background Color, Footer Background Color & Fallback SVG Background Color.
  • Click on Publish

Background

You can set up the background image of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to set the background image.

  • Login to your WordPress admin panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Appearance Settings> Background
  • Select the preset, reposition the image if you want and select the image size you want to display
  • Click on Publish when you are done

Note: You can also select from the predefined patterns for the website background.

Layout Settings

General Sidebar Layout

You can select sidebar for posts/pages using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to configure the sidebar for your website pages.

  • Login to your WordPress panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Layout Settings> General Sidebar Layout
  • Select the Page Sidebar Layout, Post Sidebar Layout, and Default sidebar layout
  • Click on Publish

Pagination

Please follow the below steps to select pagination type on your website.

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Layout Settings> Pagination Settings
  • Select the Pagination Type
  • Click on Publish

Typography (Change Fonts)

You can change the Primary Font and Font size of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below method to change the typography of your website:

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Typography
  • Select the content type to change its typography
  • Configure Font family, Font Style and Font Size.
  • Click on Publish

Front Page Settings

You can set up an attractive banner on the top of your website below the header using this settings panel. The banner section also allows you to keep an advanced search form using which your visitors can search for desired jobs.

To set up your banner:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Banner Section
  • Select Static CTA Banner or Disable Banner (if you do not want to display the banner at all)
  • Click on Add New Image and upload the header image. (You can also keep a video in the banner section. For video, you can directly upload it to the website and even keep the YouTube URL of the video.)
  • Click on Randomize suggested headers if you have uploaded multiple
  • Enter the Title & Subtitle for the banner section
  • Click on Publish

Popular Section

You can display the popular job types and categories in this section of the homepage.

Please follow the below steps to configure the popular job section on the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Popular Section
  • Enter the Popular Section Title & Description
  • Select the Popular Job Option. (You can display from Job Types & Job Categories in this section.)
  • Select Job Types/Job Categories
  • Add the Job Types/Job Categories
  • Click on Publish

Job Posting Section

You can display the available vacancies with you in this section of the theme.

Please follow the below steps to configure the job posting section on your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Job Posting Section
  • Enter the Job Posting Section Title
  • Select the Order to Display job listings
  • Click on Publish

Steps Section

You can display the steps to apply on your website in this section of the homepage.

Please follow the below steps to configure the Steps section on your homepage.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Steps Section
  • Enter the Steps Title
  • Click on Add Steps
  • Enter the Title & Subtitle for the step
  • Click on Publish

Call To Action Section

You can keep a Call To Action Section on the homepage to engage your visitors on your website.

Please follow the below steps to configure the Call To Action section on homepage.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Call To Action Section
  • Click on Add a Widget & select Rara: Call To Action Widget

  • Enter the Title & Description for Call to Action Section.
  • Enter Button Label & Link
  • Click on Upload and upload the call to action image.
  • Click on Done
  • Click on Publish

Blog Section

You can configure the blog section on your homepage of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to configure the blog section on the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Blog Section
  • Enter the Blog Title & Description.
  • Enter the View All Label
  • Click on Publish

Testimonial Section

You can display your clients on the front page of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to configure the Testimonial section on the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Testimonial Section
  • Enter the Testimonial Title & Description
  • Select Background Option (You can choose an image or color to display in the background.)
  • Upload the image if you have selected an image or select the color
  • Click on Add a Widget and select Rara: Testimonial Widget

  • Enter the Name, Designation, and Testimonial
  • Click on Upload and upload an image
  • Click on Publish

Client Section

You can display the logo of your clients using this section of the theme.

Please follow the below steps to configure the client section of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Client Section
  • Click on Add a Widget and Select Rara Client Widget

  • Enter the Section Title for the section
  • Checkbox the Display Logo in Black and White and Open in New Tab
  • Click on Add Another Logo to add another client logo
  • Click on Publish

Sort Front Page Section

You can sort the sections of the homepage using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to sort the sections of the homepage.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > Sort Front Page Section
  • Click on Eye to disable the section and drag them up and down to sort them
  • Click on Publish

One Page Settings

You can set up the One Page website using JobScout Pro WordPress theme.

Please follow the below steps to configure the one-page website.

  • Login to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Settings > One Page Settings
  • Enable Section Menu to create a one-page website.
  • Enable Home Link to display homepage link on the menubar
  • Enter the section labels
  • Click on Publish

General Settings

Header Settings

You can configure the header section of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to configure the header section of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings> Header Settings
  • Enable Sticky Header to stick header at the top
  • Enable Sign In/Sign Out display sign in and sign out
  • Enter the Sign in Page template URL
  • Enter the Post Job Label
  • Enter the Post Job URL
  • Click on Publish

Social Sharing

You can add social sharing icons on your single posts using this settings panel to allow your visitors to share your article on different social media.

Please follow the below steps to add social sharing icons on the single posts page.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings> Social Sharing
  • Enable Social Sharing Buttons to display the social sharing buttons on single posts. Blue is Enabled.
  • Enable Open Graph Meta Tags if you are not using any SEO Plugins. Blue is Enabled.
  • Click on the eye to activate the Social Sharing Buttons
  • Click on Publish

SEO Settings

You can enable or disable Last Post Update date in the theme here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings> SEO Settings
  • Enable Last Post Update Date
  • Click Save & Publish

Posts(Blog) & Pages Setting

Please follow the below steps to configure the Posts/Blog and Page settings of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Posts (Blog) & Pages Settings
  • Enable/Disable the Hide Prefix on Archive Pages
  • Enable Blog Excerpt if you want to show the summary of the posts. If enabled, select the number of words for the blog excerpt.
  • Enter the Read More Text
  • Enable Show Like Button in Single Page.
  • Enter the Author Section Title
  • Enable Show Related Posts to show related posts below a blog post. Enter the title for Related posts section and select the Related Post Taxonomy
  • Enable Show Popular Posts to show popular posts in the single page.
  • Enable Show Comments to show comments in Single Post/Page.
  • Enable Hide Category if you don’t want to show the category name on the blog posts.
  • Enable Hide Posted Date if you don’t want to show the posted date on blog posts.
  • Enable to show Featured Image in the single post page.
  • Click Publish

Job Single Settings

Please follow the below steps to configure the Job Single Settings on your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Job Single Settings
  • Enable Show Banner to show banner in job single page.
  • Enable Show Additional Info to display additional info in job single page
  • Enter the Related Jobs Section Title
  • Selected Related Job Taxonomy
  • Click on Publish

Page 404 Settings

Please follow the below steps to configure the Page 404 Settings of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Page 404 Settings
  • Enable Show Latest Posts / Jobs
  • Select the Latest Posts/Jobs Option
  • Enter the Latest Post Section title.
  • Click on Publish

Sidebar Settings

You can configure Blog page, Single Page, Archive Page and Default Sidebar using this settings panel.

You need to create custom sidebars for different pages going to Dashboard> Appearance> Widgets

Please follow the below steps to configure the sidebar on your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings> Sidebar Settings
  • Select the sidebar for Blog Page, Single Page, Single Post, Archive page and Default Sidebar
  • Click on Publish

Newsletter Settings

You can display a newsletter on the front page of your website using this settings panel.

You need to have BlossomThemes Email Newsletter plugin installed before configuring this section.

How to Setup Newsletter

You can set up the Newsletter subscription form on the front page to help your visitors easily subscribe to your blog. To set up the Newsletter section on the front page, follow the given steps. Make sure you have installed BlossomThemes Email Newsletter by Blossom Themes.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to BlossomThemes Email Newsletter > Add New

  • Enter the title of the newsletter.
  • Select the options in the Field Settings. Select “Name and Email” if you want users to enter their Name and Email to subscribe to your newsletters, otherwise select “Email”.
  • Enter Name and Email placeholder.
  • Enter the label for the Submit button.
  • Copy the Newsletter Shortcode

Configure the Newsletter Section

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings> Newsletter Settings
  • Enable Newsletter Section to display the newsletter
  • Enter the Newsletter Shortcode
  • Click on Publish

Misc Settings

You can change various settings from this menu.

To change the Misc Settings, please follow the given steps:

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings > Misc Settings
  • Enable/Disable Admin Bar (Blue is Enabled). Disabling the Admin Bar will hide the Admin panel when you view your own website
  • Enable Lightbox to show a stylized pop-up that allows your visitors to view larger versions of images without leaving the current page.
  • Enable/Disable the last sticky Widget in the sidebar (Blue is Enabled). Enabling the sticky sidebar widget will show the last widget while you scroll.
  • Enable/Disable the first letter in the post/page in a Drop cap (Blue is Enabled). Disabling the drop cap will make the first letter of post/page small in size.
  • Click Publish

Performance Settings

You can Enable performance settings to make your website load fast. You have options to enable/disable following performance metrics.

  • Lazy Load of Featured Images
  • Lazy Load Content Images
  • Lazy Load of Gravatar Images
  • Defer JavaScript
  • Remove ver parameters
  • Enable Combined JQuery
  • Enable Combined Combined Style

To change the Performance Settings:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings> Performance Settings
  • Enable Lazy Load to enables lazy loading of featured images.
  • Enable Lazy Load Content Images to enables lazy loading of images inside page/post content.
  • Enable Lazy Load of Gravatar Images
  • Enable/Disable Defer JavaScript
  • Enable/Disable Remove ver parameters to remove “ver” parameter from CSS and JS file calls
  • Enable Combined Jquery to minify the Jquery library on one file
  • Enable Combined CSS style to minify CSS files into one file
  • Click Publish

Navigation Menus (Create and Edit Menu)

JobScout Pro has two menus which can be configured in the header section of your website. If you need more than two , you can add them in the sidebar using “Custom Menu” widget.

Create a New Menu from Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize> Menus in the WordPress Dashboard.
  • Click on Create New menu button.

  • Give a name to your menu and select whether you want to display the menu on Primary location or secondary location.
  • Click Create New Menu.

  • Click “Add Items” to add items (pages, posts, categories, custom links…) to the Menu
  • Click “+” icon on the items list to add the item to the menu.
  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Click Publish.

Create Menu from Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress Dashboard.

  • Click on create a new menu.

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click on Create Menu button.

  • Select the items from Pages, Posts, Custom Links, or Categories and click “Add to Menu”.

  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Check the Menu location to Primary.
  • Click Save Menu.

Widgets

You can add the widgets to the sidebar in two ways, either via Dashboard or Customizer.

Adding Widgets via Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Widgets
  • Click on Add a Widget to add widgets
  • Select desired footer where you want to add a widget
  • Drag and reorder the widget as desired
  • Click Publish

Adding Widgets via Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Widgets
  • Available widgets are listed on the left-hand side while Footers are listed on the right side
  • Drag and drop the widgets to the desired sidebars.

Footer Credit Settings

You can enter the copyright information of your website in the footer area using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to add your custom copyright information in the footer of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Footer Settings
  • Enter the copyright information as per your desire
  • Click on Publish

Footer Section

The theme has 4 widgets area in the footer. You can add various widgets to the area. To add widgets in the footer, go to Appearance> Customize>Widgets and select the Footer Location (footer one, two, three, four) and add the widgets.

Additional CSS

You can add extra CSS codes here. If you want to modify the color, fonts, or any other CSS effects, you can enter the code here.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Additional CSS
  • Enter your code
  • Click on Publish

Helpful Tips

  • We highly recommend using Child Theme if you need to change the code of the theme. Do not change the codes in the files of the parent theme as all such changes will be lost when the theme is updated. Here’s an easy to follow guide if you don’t know how to create a child theme.
  • Always keep a BackUp of your theme before making any changes to the theme.
  • If you get any problem in using the theme, you can do the following things:
  • Deactivate the plugins, sometimes plugin conflict may cause issues with the theme. Please deactivate the unused plugins.
  • Replace the latest modified code with the original code.
