Requirements for Getting Started

Make sure Software Company free theme is compatible with your WordPress version.

Theme Installation & Activation

Note regarding Parent Theme: If you are installing Software Company theme offline, make sure you have Rara Business theme installed. You need the parent theme to install the child theme. However, if you are connected to the Internet, the parent theme (Rara Business) will be installed automatically from the WordPress repository so you don’t have to worry about it.

  • Log in to WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Themes

  • Click on Add New button

  • Click on Upload Theme

  • Click on “Choose File…”, select the “software-company.zip” file from your computer and click Open.

  • Click on Install Now

  • After the theme is installed, click on “Activate

Setting up the Front/Landing/Home Page and Blog Page

To get started with customizing the theme, you first need to set up a front page. If you want to make your website look like the demo, you should select the Front page as Static Page. So, first, we will create a homepage and blog page and then configure them.

Creating Home Page

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Pages > Add New

  • Enter the Page Title for the Page. You do not need to enter anything in the content section for creating a home page
  • Let the Page Attributes section be Default Template
  • Click on Publish

Creating Blog Page

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Pages > Add New

  • Enter the Page Title for the Page. Give the name as Blog as you are creating a blog page
  • Let the Page Attributes section be Default Template
  • Click Publish

Configuring Home Page and Blog Page

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance>Customize > Homepage Settings> Static Front Page
  • Select A static page under Your homepage displays
  • Select the page “Home” from drop-down as homepage
  • Select Blog page from the drop down to set the Posts page
  • Click Publish

Site Identity (Add Logo/Name and Tagline on your website)

You can change the name and logo of your website here.

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity
  • Click Select Logo and upload your logo.
  • Enter Site Title and Tagline.
  • Check Display Site Title and Tagline
  • Click Select Image and upload Image for Site Icon (favicon)
  • Click on Publish

Front Page Settings

You can keep a beautiful banner on your website homepage to attract and keep your visitors engaged on the website.

Please follow the below steps to add a banner on the homepage of your website.

  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Banner Section
  • Choose Static/Video Banner
  • Click on Select Video to upload a video or enter your Youtube videos youtube URL for Video Banner

  • Click on Add New Image to add a new image to your static image banner. You can also add multiple images and randomize them.

  • Enter Banner Title, Banner Description, Link One Label, Link One URL, Link Two Label and Link Two URL. The buttons will be displayed only when you enter the links.
  • Click on Publish.

Note: Upload your video in .mp4 format and minimize its file size for best results. The recommended dimensions for the banner image is 1920 × 780 pixels. Also, if you use a video in the banner section, the images will be hidden.

Services Section

You can add the services provided by you or your firm in this section.

Please follow the below steps to add the services offered:

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Services Widget
  • Click on Add Widget
  • Add ” Text” Widget for Title and description of the section. Enter Title and description and click done
  • Add ” Rara: Icon Text” Widget for entering the Services
  • Under ” Rara Icon Text ” widget, enter Title, Description, upload an image or choose an icon. Enter Read More Label and Read More Link for your service. Click Done.
  • Click Add more ” Rara: Icon Text” Widgets to add more services.
  • Click on Publish

About Section

You can information about your company in this section.

Please follow the below steps to add about section:

  • Login your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> About Widget
  • Click on Add Widget
  • Add “Rara: Featured Page Widget”. Enter Title of the section.
  • Choose a page for the content of the about section.
  • Check “Show Featured Image” to display featured image of the page under about section.
  • Check ”Show Page Title” To display the selected page title to appear under about section.
  • Check ”Show Page full content” to display all the text of the selected Page.
  • Check “Show Read More” and enter Read More text.
  • Click on Publish.

Why Choose Us Section

You can add why a customer should choose your services in this section.

Please follow the below steps to add a Why Choose Us section:

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Why Choose us Widget
  • Click on Add Widget

  • Add ”Text” Widget for Title and description of the section. Enter Title and description and click done
  • Add ”Rara: Icon Text” Widget for entering the Why Choose us items
  • Under ”Rara Icon Text ” widget, enter Title, Description, upload an image or choose an icon. Enter Read More Label and Read More Link for each point. Click Done.
  • Click Add more ” Rara: Icon Text” Widgets to add more points.
  • Click Add Widget and select “Image” widget to add the image on the right hand side.
  • Click on Publish.

Team Section

You can add various members of the team in this section.

Please follow the below steps to add team members to the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Team Widget
  • Click on Add Widget
  • Add ”Text” Widget for Title and description of the section. Enter Title and description and click done
  • Add ”Rara: Team Member” Widget for entering the team member

  • Under ”Rara: Team Member” widget, enter Name, Designation, and Description of the team member. Upload the team member’s picture. Enter the link to their respective social media accounts.
  • Add more ”Rara: Team Member” Widgets to add more team members.
  • Click on Publish.

Clients Testimonials

You can add your client testimonial in this section of your homepage.

Please follow the below steps to add your client testimonial on the homepage of your website.

  • Login into your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Testimonial Widget
  • Click on Add Widget

  • Add ”Text” Widget for Title and description of the section. Enter Title and description and click done
  • Add ”Rara: Testimonial” Widget for entering the testimonials. Enter the name, designation, and testimonial. Upload an image. Click Done
  • Add more ”Rara: Testimonial” Widgets to add more testimonials.
  • Click on Publish.

Stat Counter Section

You can add statistics about your project, services and various other things related to the organization.

Please follow the below steps to add stats about your organization.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Stat Counter Widget
  • Click on Add Widget

  • Add ”Text” Widget for Title and description of the section. Enter Title and description and click done
  • Add ”Rara: Stat Counter Widget” for entering the stats. Enter the title, count and choose an icon. Click Done
  • Add more ”Rara: Stat Counter Widget” Widgets to add more stats.
  • Click on Publish

Portfolio Section

You can add different works done by your organization/company in this section of the homepage.

Please follow the below steps to add a portfolio of your works.

Note: Before you start with this section make sure you have created portfolio posts.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Portfolio Section
  • Enable Portfolio section to display it on the homepage.
  • Enter the Portfolio title.
  • Enter Portfolio description
  • Choose the number of portfolio posts to display on the homepage. To create portfolio posts, go to Portfolios > Add New in the Admin Dashboard.

  • Click on Publish.

Blog Section (HomePage)

You can showcase your latest blog posts in this section of the homepage.

Note: You need to have some blog posts before you start with this section.

Please follow the below steps to configure the blog section on the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Blog Section
  • Enable Blog section to display it on the homepage.
  • Enter the Blog Title & Blog Description. The latest 6 posts will be displayed.
  • Click on Publish.

Call to Action Section

You can add a call to action widget to convert your visitors into customers.

Please follow the below steps to configure Call to Action section on the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Call to Action Widget
  • Click on Add a Widget

  • Add “Rara: Call To Action widget”.
  • Enter the title and description. Choose the number of call to action buttons. Enter Button Label and Button Link. Choose the button alignment. Select a background color or upload a background image. Click Done.
  • Click on Publish.

FAQs Section

You can add frequently asked questions and their answers in this section of the homepage.

Please follow the below steps to add FAQs section to your website homepage.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> FAQs Widget
  • Click on Add Widget.

  • Add ” Text” Widget for Title and description of the section. Enter Title and description and click done
  • Add ” Rara: FAQs Widget” for FAQs.
  • Check Enable FAQ Toggle to enable toggle. Enter the question and its respective answer. Click on Add FAQs to add more FAQs. Click Done.
  • Click on Publish

Clients Section

You can add logo of your different clients in this section of the homepage.

Please follow the below steps to add clients logo on the homepage of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Frontpage Settings> Clients Widget
  • Click on Add Widget.

  • Enter the title of the section. Choose whether to display the logo in black and white. Click on Add another logo to upload a logo.
  • Click on Publish.

General Settings

Header Section

You can enable and add your social media links in the header section of your website using this settings panel.

Please follow the below steps to add social media icons on the header section of your website.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize >General Settings>Header Section
  • Enable Social Links. Blue is Enabled.
  • Click on Add new links to add Social Links
  • Enter the Social Media Links and Icon. You can get the icon text by searching entering your term in the input field or from font awesome website.
  • Click Add new Links to add more social icons.
  • Enter Custom Link Icon for adding Inquiry button on the header.
  • Enter Label and Link for the Inquiry button.
  • Click on Publish

SEO Settings

You can configure the SEO settings of your website using this setting.

Please follow the below steps to configure SEO settings of your website:

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize >General Settings>SEO Settings
  • Enable Last Update Post Date to boost your SEO. Blue is enabled. When you enable this, Google can read the post updated date and index your latest content.
  • Enable Breadcrumb. Blue is enabled. Breadcrumb helps in better navigation for search engines and users
  • Enter the Breadcrumb Home Text
  • Click on Publish

Posts(Blog) & Pages Settings

You can manage single post page settings like an excerpt, related posts, and other single post settings. To configure the blog post and pages, please follow the given steps:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Posts (Blog) & Pages Settings
  • Select the sidebar layout for Pages and Posts
  • Enable Blog Excerpt if you want to show the summary of the posts. Blue is enabled. If enabled, select the number of words for the blog excerpt and Read More Text.
  • Enable Hide Posted Date Meta to hide posted date. Blue is Enabled.
  • Enable/Disable the Hide author Meta to hide author detail. (Blue is Enabled)
  • Enable/Disable Hide Prefix in Archive Page to hide the prefix in Archive page. Blue is Enabled.
  • Enable/Disable Hide Author to hide Author. Blue is Enabled.
  • Enable/Disable Show Related Posts. (Blue is Enabled)
  • Enter the Section Title for related posts
  • Enable/Disable Show Popular Posts to show popular posts. Blue is Enabled.
  • Enter the Section Title for Popular Posts. Blue is Enabled.
  • Enable/Disable to Show Featured Image in single post. Blue is Enabled.
  • Click on Publish

Appearance Settings

You can change the website background color and background image from this settings panel.

Colors

Please follow the below steps to change the website color.

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Appearance Settings> Colors
  • Click on “Select Color” and select the background color.
  • Click on Publish

Background Image

Please follow the below steps add a background image on your website.

  • Log in to the WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Appearance Settings > Background Image
  • Click on “Select image” button to add the background image.
  • Click on “Remove” to remove the image. Click on “Change image” to change the background image.
  • Choose the image preset, position, size, and other options as you like it.
  • Click Publish when you are satisfied.

Navigation Menus (Create and Edit Menu)

By default, all your primary pages will be displayed in the menu. If you want to create a Custom Menu, you can do it from Customizer or from Dashboard. This theme supports a single menu in the header. If you need more than one menu, you can add them in the sidebar using “Custom Menu” widget.

The Primary Menu Appears beside the site logo in the header.

Creating Menu via Customizer

  • Login to WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance > Customize>Menus
  • Click on Create New Menu

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and select the menu location and click Next

  • Click “Add Items” to add items (pages, posts, categories, custom links…) to the Menu
  • Click “+” icon on the items list to add the item to the menu
  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them
  • Click Publish

Create Menu from Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress Dashboard
  • Click on create a new menu.

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button.

  • Select the items from Pages, Posts, Custom Links, or Categories and click “Add to Menu”.

  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Check the Menu location to Primary
  • Click Save Menu

Widgets

You can add the widgets to the sidebar in two ways, either via Dashboard or Customizer.

Adding Widgets via Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Widgets
  • Make sure you are on the page you want to add widgets to.
  • Click on the desired Sidebar or location (the one you want to add widgets to). You can add widgets on Footer as well.
  • Click on Add a Widget to add widgets

  • Select desired Widgets and give a title to the widget
  • Click Add a Widget to add more widgets in the sidebar
  • Drag and reorder the widget as desired
  • Click Publish

Adding Widgets via Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Widgets
  • Available widgets are listed on the left-hand side while Sidebars are listed on the right side (including the sidebars you create)
  • Drag and drop the widgets to the desired sidebars.

Footer Credit Settings

You can edit the footer credit using this setting.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Footer Settings
  • Enter your desired footer credit text
  • Click on Publish.

Footer Section

The theme has 4 widgets area plus a newsletter section on the footer section. You can add various widgets to the area. To add widgets in the footer, go to Appearance> Customize>Widgets and select the Footer Location (footer one, two, three) and add the widgets.

Additional CSS

You can add extra CSS codes here. If you want to modify the color, fonts, or any other CSS effects, you can enter the code here.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Additional CSS
  • Enter your code
  • Click Publish when you are done

Helpful Tips

  • We highly recommend using Child Theme if you need to change the code of the theme. Do not change the codes in the files of the parent theme as all such changes will be lost when the theme is updated. Here’s an easy to follow guide if you don’t know how to create a child theme.
  • Always keep a BackUp of your theme before making any changes to the theme.
  • If you get any problem in using the theme, you can do the following things:
  • Deactivate the plugins, sometimes plugin conflict may cause issues with the theme. Please deactivate the unused plugins.
  • Replace the latest modified code with the original code.
