This documentation covers the installation and the usage of the theme.

The main goal of the documentation is to provide guidance and walk-through to set up the theme on your website in an easy-to-follow manner, while also introducing you to some of the features of the theme. We encourage you to go through this document and keep it handy for reference.

If you have any questions about the theme or need assistance with anything related to the theme, please feel free open a support ticket. Our support team will be happy to assist you.

In this documentation, first, we’ll make sure that everything is ready for the installation, then we’ll set up the theme, and cover some initial configuration and customization options.

How to use this Documentation?

We recommend everyone to go through each step of the documentation to have a better understanding of the theme and its features.

However, if you are looking for a specific section, you can easily navigate using our table of contents on the left-hand side of the screen.

If you want to find a specific keyword, hit “Ctrl+F” on your browser to start searching.

Requirements for Getting Started

Make sure The Ultralight Pro is compatible with your WordPress version.

The Ultralight Pro will work with 4.5 and above versions of WordPress.

However, for the best experience, added features, and updated security patches, we recommend you to update your WordPress to the latest version.

If you haven’t downloaded WordPress already, you can download it from the WordPress repository via https://wordpress.org/download/.

Checklist for Getting Started:

  • Check WordPress Version and Update it
  • Install and Activate The Ultralight Pro theme
  • Install Necessary Plugins. Some functionality of the theme might not work if you do not install the recommended plugins.

Recommended Image Size (in px)

Post and Page Featured Image (No sidebar): 1100 x 500

Post and Page with sidebar: 720 x 350

Recommended Post: 350×200

Author Image Sidebar: 200x 200

Author Image Banner: 100 x 100

Demo Import (Instantly Make Website Like Demo)

You can easily make your website exactly like the live preview (demo) of the The Ultralight Pro theme by importing the demo content. Importing demo content is a great way of getting started with your website. You can get a guideline on how to set up this theme if you import the demo content.

To import the demo with a click, you need to install Rara One Click Demo Import plugin and follow this step by step guide.

How to Check and Update WordPress Version:

  • Log in to the WordPress admin panel
  • Go to Dashboard >Updates

Theme Installation & Activation

After you have the latest version of WordPress, save the downloaded The Ultralight Pro theme zip file somewhere handy on your computer, as you will be using the included files for the rest of the installation process.

The Ultralight Pro theme file includes:

A WordPress Theme Files (in .zip format)— This (the-ultralight-pro.zip) is a compressed WordPress theme file containing all of the required templates, images, and icons required for the theme to function properly.

Note for Safari users (macOS): If you are using Safari to download the theme file, the file may unzip automatically. So, make sure your theme file is in .zip format. Here’s how to stop Safari from automatically unzipping your .zip file.

To install and activate the theme follow these steps or the above gif:

  • Log in to WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance > Themes
  • Click on Add New button

  • Click on Upload Theme

  • Click on “Choose File…”, select the “the-ultralight-pro.zip” file from your computer and click Open
  • Click Install Now

  • After the theme is installed, click on “Activate” to use the theme on your website

Installing Recommended Plugins

You must install and activate the following plugins to get the best out of The Ultralight Pro theme.

RaraTheme Companion:

RaraTheme Companion is truly a must-have companion for your website. It provides 14 useful and frequently used widgets that you can add to the sidebars to create an engaging website.

BlossomThemes Email Newsletter by Blossom Themes:

This plugin is needed to add a newsletter subscription form on the newsletter section. The plugin also creates a newsletter widget that can be used in the sidebars.

Contact Form 7 by Takayuki Miyoshi:

Contact Form 7 helps you add and manage multiple contact forms.

Regenerate Thumbnails by Alex Mills (Viper007Bond):

If you have existing content, this will help you update your image thumbnails sizes. To update the thumbnails, you must run this plugin.

How to Install Recommended Plugin:

  • Go to Appearance> Install Plugins

  • Click “Install” to install the plugins

  • Click “Activate” to activate the plugins

Logo and Header Settings

Site Identity (Add Logo/Name and Tagline on your website)

You can change the name and logo of your website here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Logo & Header Settings> Site Identity
  • Click Select Logo and upload your logo.
  • Enter Site Title and Tagline.
  • Check Display Site Title and Tagline.
  • Change the font and color of the site title as per your need
  • Click Select Image and upload Image for Site Icon (favicon).
  • Click Publish

Colors (Change Color of the Theme)

You can change the primary, background, and the footer color of the theme from here from this menu.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Colors
  • Click on “Select Color” and select the primary color and  background color
  • Click Publish when you are satisfied

Background Settings

You can change the body of the background to the desired image or pattern from this setting.

To change the body background, follow these steps:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Background
  • Click on “Select Image/Pattern” and select the Image/Pattern
  • Click Publish when you are satisfied

Layout Settings

You can change the layout of post page and sidebar as well as pagination from this menu.

Post Page Layout

You can select from 2 types of post layouts.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings>Post Page Layout
  • Select the layout you like
  • Click on Publish

General Sidebar Layout

You can choose from three different General Sidebar layout for your website.

To change the Sidebar layout, follow the given steps:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings>General Sidebar Layout
  • Select the layout you like
  • Click on Publish

Pagination Settings

You can choose from various pagination options from this menu.

To change the pagination setting, follow the follow the given steps

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Layout Settings>Pagination Settings
  • Select from various pagination option you like
  • Click on Publish

Typography Settings

You can change the fonts of your contents and Heading tags here.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Typography Settings
  • Select the content type to change its typography

  • Configure Font family, Style, Size, and Color (Using Color pallet).
  • Click Save & Publish

General Settings

You can configure various settings here– Banner section, Social Media Settings, Social Sharing, SEO Settings, Posts(Blog) & Pages Settings and other miscellaneous settings.

You can choose a image as your banner. You can also add newsletter or call to action button and author image from this section. The banner will be displayed at the top of your website.

To set up your Banner:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Banner Section
  • Choose either Banner as Header or Author Image, or Disable Banner (if you do not want banner at all)
  • You can also add Call to Action instead of Newsletter

How to Setup Newsletter

You can set up the Newsletter subscription form on the banner to help your visitors easily subscribe to your blog. To set up the Newsletter section on Banner, follow the given steps:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Banner Section
  • Enable the Banner Section and choose Newsletter as Banner content
  • Enter Newsletter Shortcode and Short Note
  • Click on Publish

How to get Newsletter Shortcode

Make sure you have installed BlossomThemes Email Newsletter by Blossom Themes. If you have already installed the plugin, then follow the given steps:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to BlossomThemes Email Newsletter > Add New

  • Enter the title of the newsletter.
  • Select the options in the Field Settings. Select “Name and Email” if you want users to enter their Name and Email to subscribe to your newsletters, otherwise select “Email”.
  • Enter Name and Email placeholder.
  • Enter the label for the Submit button.

  • Copy the Newsletter shortcode
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Banner Section
  • Enable the Banner Section and choose Newsletter as Banner content
  • Paste the Newsletter Shortcode and Enter the Short Note
  • Click on Publish

Setup Call to Action in Banner

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Banner Section
  • Enable Banner Area
  • Go to Banner Content and select Call to Action
  • Enter the Banner Title and Banner Description
  • Add CTA Labels and CTA Links of the page you want to redirect
  • Click on Publish

Social Media Settings

You can add social media icons from this setting. The theme supports more than 15 social media icons.

To set up Social Media Settings:

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Social Media Settings
  • Enable/Disable Social Links on Footer. Blue is enabled.
  • Click on “Add new Links” to add a new social media icon. Select the link and click on “Remove” to remove an icon.
  • Search the icon and enter the link for the icon.
  • Click Publish when you have added all your Social Media Account links

Social Sharing

You can enable/disable sharing icons for blog posts here.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings > Social Sharing
  • Enable/Disable Social sharing buttons
  • Click on the eye icon at the beginning of a social network to enable or disable it

  • Drag the social medias up or down to arrange them.
  • Click Save & Publish

SEO Settings

You can enable or disable Last Post Update date in the theme here.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings> SEO Settings
  • Enable Last Post Update Date
  • Click Save & Publish

Posts(Blog) & Pages Settings

You can manage single post page settings like an excerpt, related posts, popular posts, etc.

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Posts (Blog) & Pages Settings
  • Enable to hide prefix in the Archive page
  • Enable Blog Excerpt if you want to show the summary of the posts. Blue is enabled. If enabled, select the number of words for the blog excerpt and read more label. Also, fix the read words per minute and give the desired value.
  • Enable Show Related Posts. Related Posts will be shown below the blog post based on the category and tags.
  • Enter the title for related posts and give name for related post texts
  • Choose the Related posts taxonomy
  • Enable Show/Hide post comments
  • Enable Show/Hide post date
  • Click Publish

Misc Settings

You can change various settings from this menu.

To change the Misc Settings, please follow the given steps:

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> General Settings > Misc Settings
  • Enable/Disable Admin Bar (Blue is Enabled). Disabling the Admin Bar will hide the Admin panel when you view your own website
  • Enable/Disable the Lightbox (Pop-up that allows the visitors to view larger images without leaving the current page). Blue is Enabled.
  • Enable/Disable the Search Box in the header (Blue is Enabled). Disabling the search box will hide the search box on homepage
  • Enable/Disable the Sticky Header (Blue is Enabled). Disabling the sticky header will hide the header while scrolling down
  • Enable/Disable the last sticky Widget in the sidebar (Blue is Enabled). Enabling the sticky sidebar widget will show last widget while you scroll.
  • Enable/Disable the first letter in the post/page in a Drop cap (Blue is Enabled). Disabling the drop cap will make the first letter of post/page small in size.
  • Click Publish

Sidebar Settings

You can add and configure sidebars here. But, to add tools to the sidebar you should go to Appearance>Widgets.

Add a Sidebar

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Sidebar Settings
  • Click Add New sidebar
  • Give the sidebar a name
  • Click Save & Publish

You can see the new sidebar in Appearance> Widgets. Add a widget to the sidebar and click save to configure the newly created sidebar.

Configure Sidebar

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Sidebar Settings
  • Select Sidebars for various Pages, like Homepage, Single page, Single post page, archive page, category page, tag archive page, date archive page, author archive page, search page, etc. The sidebar selected under the particular pages will only be displayed on the page. For example: Blog Page Sidebar appears only on blog page.
  • Click Save & Publish

Performance Settings

You can Enable performance settings to make your website load fast. You have options to enable/disable following performance metrics.

  • Lazy Load
  • Lazy Load Content Images
  • Lazy Load Gravatar Images
  • Defer JavaScript
  • Remove ver parameters
  • Combine Jquery
  • Combined Style

To change the Performance Settings

  • Log in to WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize > Performance Settings
  • Enable Lazy Load to enables lazy loading of featured images.
  • Enable Lazy Load Content Images to enables lazy loading of images inside page/post content.
  • Enable Lazy Load Gravatar Images to show gravatar images after the website loads all other content.
  • Enable/Disable Defer JavaScript
  • Enable/Disable Remove ver parameters to remove “ver” parameter from CSS and JS file calls
  • Enable/Disable Jquery minification
  • Enable/Disable minification of CSS codes
  • Click Publish

Menus (Create and Edit Menu)

By default, all your primary pages will be displayed in the menu. If you want to create a Custom Menu, you can do it from Customizer or from Dashboard. This theme supports one menu. If you need more than one menu, you can add them in the sidebar using “Custom Menu” widget.

Create Menu from Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Appearance > Customize> Menus
  • Click on Create New Menu button

  • Give a name to your menu and select the menu location as Primary. If you select the primary location, the menu will be displayed below the logo.
  • Click Next

  • Click “Add Items” to add items (pages, posts, categories, custom links…) to the Menu
  • Click “+” icon on the items list to add the item to the menu
  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them
  • Click Publish

Create Menu from Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress Dashboard
  • Click on create a new menu.

  • Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button.

  • Select the items from Pages, Posts, Custom Links, or Categories and click “Add to Menu”.

  • Drag and Drop the added items to rearrange them.
  • Check the Menu location to Primary
  • Click Save Menu

Widgets

You can add the widgets to the sidebar in two ways, either via Dashboard or Customizer.

Adding Widgets via Customizer

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Widgets
  • Make sure you are on the page you want to add widgets to
  • Click on the desired Sidebar or location (the one you want to add widgets to). You can add widgets on Footer as well
  • Click on Add a Widget to add widgets
  • Select desired Widgets and give a title to the widget
  • Click Add a Widget to add more widgets in the sidebar
  • Drag and reorder the widget as desired
  • Click Publish

Adding Widgets via Dashboard

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Widgets
  • Available widgets are listed on the left hand side while Sidebars are listed on the right side (including the sidebars you create)
  • Drag and drop the widgets to the desired sidebars

Footer Section

The theme has 3 widgets area in the footer. You can add various widgets to the area. To add widgets in the footer, go to Appearance> Customize>Widgets and select the Footer Location (footer one, two, three) and add the widgets.

Footer Credit Settings

You can edit the footer credit using this setting.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Customize> Footer Settings
  • Enter your desired footer credit text
  • Enable/Disable Author Link
  • Enable/Disable WordPress Link
  • Click Save & Publish when you are done.

Additional CSS

You can add extra CSS codes here. If you want to modify the color, fonts, or any other CSS effects, you can enter the code here.

  • Login to your WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance> Additional CSS
  • Enter your code
  • Click Publish when you are done

Helpful Tips

  • We highly recommend using Child Theme if you need to change the code of the theme. Do not change the codes in the files of the parent theme as all such changes will be lost when the theme is updated. Here’s an easy to follow guide if you don’t know how to create a child theme.
  • Always keep a BackUp of your theme before making any changes to the theme.
  • If you get any problem in using the theme, you can do the following things:
  • Deactivate the plugins, sometime plugin conflict may cause issues with the theme. Please deactivate the unused plugins.
  • Replace the latest modified code with the original code.
